Karoliina Loimaala | Finland

Finnish, Helsinki based dance artist, born 1989. Recent – 2016 She has worked on her own artistic work in Finland at the Centre of Performing Arts in Helsinki, Urban ApaFestival, Theatre Ilves, and Adishakti Theatre in India with Maya Oliva. She has worked in collaborations in Culture Centre Caisa with Anne Naukkarinen, Kids project, École de Sablés Senegal, with Ballet Finland, Sami Saikkonen, and as a dancer in Helsinki City theatre 2010-12. She has been teaching since 2010.

She graduated from P.A.R.T.S. 2016, previous Tampere conservatorium 2011, studies at Helsinki university in philosophy, art theories and languages currently running. She has especially strong influences from the work with Forsythe Company dancers, Fabrice Mazliah, Yoko Ando, Katja Cheranova, Ayman Harper and the Slovaks, Martin Kilvady, Peter Jasko. She is interested in budo and is currently studying the impact of martial arts on dance art and body studies. She writes and has a strong interest in text and the power of imaginative language.
